IRI delegation meets BNP leaders

DHAKA, Aug 21, 2025 (BSS) - A three-member delegation from the US-based International Republican Institute (IRI) today met with the leaders of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) at its chairperson's office in Gulshan.

On behalf of BNP, Standing Committee Member Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan, Organising Secretary Shama Obayed and Acting Chairman's Adviser Dr. Mahadi Amin attended the meeting. 

The IRI delegation included Asia Pacific Director Stephen Cima, Deputy Director Matthew Carter, and Senior Program Manager Amitabh Ghosh.

According to BNP media cell member Shairul Kabir Khan, the discussion focused on the current political situation in Bangladesh, the upcoming national elections and the democratic process.

No official statement was issued by either BNP or IRI regarding the detailed outcomes of the meeting. 

However, Dr. Abdul Moin Khan said that the situation in Bangladesh after the mass uprising, reform activities and parliamentary elections were discussed in detail.
