Pakistan commerce minister calls on Adilur

DHAKA, Aug 21, 2025 (BSS) - Pakistan Federal Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan today called on Industries Adviser Adilur Rahman Khan at the latter’s office here.
 
During the meeting, the two sides discussed enhancing cooperation in industrial development and other issues of mutual interest.

Welcoming the Pakistani Commerce Minister, the Industries Adviser said that Bangladesh and Pakistan can work together to strengthen people-to-people contact between the two countries, according to a handout.

He also emphasized on increasing mutual cooperation in the development of Bangladesh's sugar industry, leather industry, cement, shipbuilding and agriculture.

The meeting also discussed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) and Pakistan's Halal Authority. 

It was informed in the meeting that a Joint Working Group has already been formed to promote the development of the sugar industry of both Bangladesh and Pakistan.

The Pakistani Commerce Minister expressed his country's interest in expanding cooperation in various fields, including industrial development, agriculture and food security, trade, and investment.

Pakistan's newly-appointed High Commissioner in Dhaka Imran Haider, Secretary of the Ministry of Industries Md. Obaidur Rahman and Director General (DG) of BSTI S M Ferdous Alam were present, among others, in the meeting.
