JUCSU polls: 273 nomination papers submitted against 25 posts

JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY, Aug 21, 2025 (BSS) - A total of 273 nomination papers were submitted against 25 posts for the Jahangirnagar University Central Students' Union (JUCSU) election while 467 papers were submitted for 21 halls union elections.

Election Commission Member Secretary and JU Proctor Professor Dr AKM Rashidul Alam confirmed this afternoon.

"A total of 299 nomination papers were sold for the JUCSU and 514 for hall unions in three days of distribution," said Prof Rashidul.

He said that the election commission would begin to scrutinize of nomination papers at 8:00 pm tonight and a draft candidate list would be published on August 25.

Meanwhile, JUCSU election commission has also formally requested the support of Bangladesh Army for enhanced security before, during and after the polls, the Proctor confirmed.

Earlier on August 10 last, the election commission announced the schedule for JUCSU and Hall union elections by setting September 11 as the polling date.
