JUST debate club crowned champion at KU

KHULNA, Aug 24, 2025 (BSS) - Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) Debating Club emerged as champions in the "4th Nyayaique Nationals -2025," a two-day inter-university debating competition, organized by Khulna University Debating Club.

JUST Debating Club defeated Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) Debating Club to clinch the title in the grand finale on Saturday evening held at Khulna University's Liaquat Ali Auditorium.

Addressing the event as the chief guest, Khulna University (KU) Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof. Dr. Md. Rezaul Karim said, "Debating is an excellent means of self-development. By engaging in debates, students enhance their intellectual skills and prepare themselves not only for academia but also for their future professional lives."

Daily Jugantor editor, poet, and journalist Abdul Hai Shikder attended as the keynote speaker, emphasizing the role of young debaters in shaping post-uprising Bangladesh.

He said, "Through argument and reasoning, they can identify flaws in society and the state. Competitions like this foster free thinking and nurture responsible citizens."
    
KU Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Harunur Rashid Khan, Student Affairs Director Prof. Dr. Md. Nazmus Sadat, and TIB Deputy Coordinator Zafar Sadiq were addressed as special guests.

This year's competition featured 28 teams from various universities across the country.
