JICA delegation calls on DU VC

DHAKA, Aug 24, 2025 (BSS) - A fifteen-member delegation led by Dr Masaki Todo, Senior Adviser of Global Environment Department of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Niaz Ahmed Khan today at the VC’s meeting room of the university. 

Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) of DU Professor Dr Sayema Haque Bidisha, Treasurer Professor Dr M Jahangir Alam Chowdhury and Chairperson of DU Meteorology Department Dr Fatima Akter were present on the occasion, said a press release.

During the meeting, they discussed the possibilities of undertaking a project on “Development of a High-Accuracy Flood Forecast System for the Haor Region in Northeastern Bangladesh” with the financial and technical support from JICA. 

Dhaka University will play role as implementing institution of this project. They agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in this regard soon.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Niaz Ahmed Khan thanked the JICA delegation members for their proposal of a development project. 

He expressed his willingness to work with JICA to promote academic and research activities at DU.
