DHAKA, Sept 3, 2025 (BSS) - Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam today said they are going to recruit 4000 assistant sub inspectors (ASIs) before  the upcoming national election.

“Fifty percent of ASIs will be appointed directly and 50 percent will be appointed through promotion,” he said while replying to a question after a meeting at the Ministry of Public Administration in Bangladesh Secretariat here to discuss an amendment of the rules for the appointments.

The police chief also said that some amendments were needed in the rules, and the Ministry of Public Administration is working in this regard.

“Through this, the process of appointment has become a little easier,” he said.

When asked whether these appointments are being made ahead of the elections, Baharul Alam said, "Of course, the Chief Adviser has agreed in principle for the appointment of several forces a few days ago."
