DHAKA, Sept 15, 2025 (BSS) – Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali today called upon the police personnel to show the maximum level of neutrality in the 13th parliamentary elections forgetting the electoral gloom of the past.
“Demonstrate the highest degree of impartiality in the upcoming national elections,” he said while speaking at the monthly crime review meeting at the Bangladesh Police Auditorium in Rajarbagh.
The DMP Commissioner warned that weakness towards any party, ideology or individual cannot be shown.
Referring to the recently held DUCSU elections, he said, “A fair and free election is possible with our collective efforts.”
At the meeting, the DMP Commissioner also said that everyone should be vigilant to prevent the misdeeds of any organization whose activities are banned and strict action should be taken against those who disrupt the law and order.
In addition, necessary preparations should be made now on the occasion of the upcoming Durga Puja.
DMP Chief also stressed the importance of acquiring human qualities among the police officers.
At the crime review meeting, DMP Additional Police Commissioner (Administration) Md. Sarwar said that the work of modernizing DMP through the use of information technology is underway.
“As part of this, a video prosecution system has been introduced against traffic law violators,” he said.
At the same function, the DMP Commissioner has awarded officers of various ranks of DMP in different categories in recognition of their good work in maintaining law and order, checking crimes and ensuring public safety in Dhaka Metropolitan City in August.
Additional Police Commissioner (Crime and Operations) S.N. Md. Nazrul Islam said that effective steps should be taken to prevent robbery in the capital.
“Patrol activities should be strengthened by identifying the spots of robbery. Besides, to prevent the misdeeds of banned organizations, their associates and financiers should be identified and brought under the law,” he said.
At the meeting, Joint Police Commissioner (Crime) Md. Faruk Hossain presented information on the overall crime situation of August 2025, including robbery, banditry, theft, burglary, murder, accidental death, road accidents, women and child abuse, rape, recovery of drugs and weapons, and various cases.
At the crime review meeting, DMP additional police commissioner (CTTC) Md. Masud Karim, additional police commissioner (DB) Md. Shafiqul Islam, additional police commissioner (Logistics) Hasan Md. Shawkat Ali, additional police commissioner (Traffic) Md. Zillur Rahman, along with all joint police commissioners, deputy police commissioners, additional deputy police commissioners, assistant police commissioners and officers-in-charge of the police stations of the DMP were present.
