Govt recommends approving proposal to sign deal for importing fertilizer

DHAKA, Sept 16, 2025 (BSS) - The government today recommended for approving a proposal in principle for signing a deal between the Fertiglobe Distribution Limited, UAE and the Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC).

The agreement will be signed to import urea fertilizer from that company under G2G basis for the current fiscal year (FY26) to meet the growing demand of the country.

The recommendation for approval came from the 29th meeting of the Advisers Council Committee on Economic Affairs held at the Cabinet Division Conference Room at Bangladesh Secretariat today. Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed presided over the meeting.
