DHAKA, Sept 16, 2025 (BSS) - Religious Affairs Adviser Dr AFM Khalid Hossain today said that adopting the Indo-Malaysian model of Hajj management could introduce innovative and cost-effective solutions in Bangladesh.

Speaking as the chief guest at a seminar titled "Easy Financing and Cost-Effective Hajj Management" at Dhaka Officers' Club, he said, "The changes introduced by India and Malaysia in Hajj management can serve as a model for other countries. If we study and adapt their system, Bangladeshi pilgrims will be able to perform Hajj at a lower cost."

Dr Hossain noted that implementing this model could positively impact the national economy. The seminar was organized by the Bangladesh Hajj Academy.

He explained that the Indo-Malaysian model allows pilgrims to finance their Hajj over time through small savings schemes. This enables even low-income individuals to perform Hajj and contributes to long-term financial planning.

"A significant number of pilgrims in India and Malaysia participate in such savings schemes, which not only make Hajj affordable but also have a broader economic impact," he said, adding that the system supports overall development and progress in those countries.

The seminar was chaired by Dr Gias Uddin Talukder, Chairman of the Central Shariah Board for Islamic Banks.
