DHAKA, Sept 17, 2025 (BSS) - The Central Intelligence Cell (CIC) of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) today took control of two lockers belonging to the ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina at the principal branch of Agrani Bank in the capital's Motijheel area.

A senior official of the bank confirmed this matter saying the lockers would be unlocked following due procedures as per Bangladesh Bank (BB) guidelines.

The move comes as the NBR launched an inquiry into the allegations of tax evasion by deposed PM Hasina, who fled to India following a mass uprising.

The tax authority has frozen the bank accounts of Hasina as part of the investigation, the officials added.

Earlier, the CIC took control of a locker belonging to Sheikh Hasina at a branch of Pubali Bank in the capital's Motijheel area.
