Durga Puja will be held in a festive manner: DMP Commissioner

DHAKA, Sept 18, 2025 (BSS) - Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali today said this year's Sharadiya Durga Puja will be held in a festive manner.

He made the remarks in a preparatory meeting on the occasion of the upcoming Durga Puja at DMP Headquarters.

He further said that the law and order situation is currently stable and with the joint efforts of everyone, as before, the biggest religious festival of Hindus Durga Puja will be held without any hindrance.

He also said that Durga pujas will be held in 258 mandap in Dhaka city this year. 

Apart from the mandap-based security plan, there will be separate traffic management, he added.

The security of the puja mandap will be made foolproof by installing CCTV cameras, he said.

He has requested the city dwellers not to pay heed to any rumor.

In addition, stringenet security will be provided on the day of idol immersion, he concluded.

Additional Police Commissioner (Administration) Md. Sarwar, and Additional Police Commissioner (Crime and Operations) S. N. Md. Nazrul Islam, among others, spoke on the occasion.

At the beginning of the meeting, DMP Joint Police Commissioner (Operations) Md. Shahidullah presented the security plan adopted by DMP ahead of the Durga Puja. 

Bangladesh Puja Udjapnn Parishad, the Metropolitan Puja Udjapan Parishad, the Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Oikya Parishad, the Vice Principal of Ramakrishna Mission Math and other concerned leaders were present at the meeting.

They expressed their satisfaction with the security plan adopted by the DMP.
