Home Secretary reaches Pakistan on 9-day official visit

DHAKA, Sept 18, 2025 (BSS) - Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs Nasimul Ghani has arrived in Pakistan on a nine-day official visit aiming to strengthen bilateral relations.

He reached Islamabad International Airport in Pakistan by a Thai Airways flight on Wednesday, a handout said today.

Upon his arrival, Special Secretary to the Ministry of Home Affairs of the Federal Government of Pakistan Dawood Muhammad Bareach and Bangladesh High Commissioner to Pakistan Md Iqbal Hossain Khan welcomed him at the airport.

During the visit, discussions will be held on combating drugs and terrorism, mutual cooperation between the police academies of the two countries in police training, and Rohingya issue. 

In addition, a memorandum of understanding on "Combating Illicit Trafficking and Abuse of Narcotic Drugs, Psychotropic Substances and their Precursors" between the two countries will be signed during this visit.

The Bangladesh Home Secretary will inaugurate e-passport service at Bangladesh High Commission in Islamabad and Bangladesh Mission in Karachi. 

Besides, he will visit the Safe City Project, the Pakistan Police Academy, and the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports (DGIP).

The visit is expected to play an important role in improving diplomatic and political relations between the two countries, the handout said.
