DHAKA, Sept 18, 2025 (BSS) – Chief Adviser’s Special Assistant on the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb today laid emphasis on inclusive and equitable development initiatives, saying that no one has the right to implement projects that deprive people.

He made the remarks while addressing the District Development Coordination Committee meeting as the chief guest at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference room in Cumilla.

Taiyeb noted that in previous years, disproportionate development allocations were often made in the constituencies of ministers, regardless of actual need, resulting in neglect of other upazilas within the same district. “No one has the right to undertake development projects by depriving people, so let us move away from such practices,” he asserted.

Pointing to the Water Development Board, Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb directed them to take preparation for eviction drives by engaging all intelligence agencies along with law enforcement agencies, considering political neutrality.

He also instructed the Rural Electrification Board to disconnect all illegal electricity connections in the district. At the same time, he urged the Power Division to ensure that industrial owners do not face harassment in obtaining electricity connections.

In the meeting, he also directed for speedy completion of inspection of MPO-enlisted schools in the district.

Development activities, including infrastructure, education, health, agriculture, information technology and social safety-net programmes were reviewed at the meeting.

Besides, the concerned departments were instructed to implement the ongoing development projects in the district within the stipulated timeframe.

Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb also sought everyone’s cooperation to ensure smooth celebration of the upcoming Durga Puja.

With Cumilla Deputy Commissioner Md Amirul Kayser in the chair, Cumilla City Corporation Administrator Md Shah Alam, ICT Division Joint Secretary Mohammad Saiful Hasan, Additional Superintendent of Police, heads of various government offices in the district, all Upazila Nirbahi Officers of the district, representatives of civil society and local journalists were present at the meeting.
