DHAKA, Sept 18, 2025 (BSS) – The Election Commission (EC) today said by now it procured 70 percent of required materials to be used in planned February elections and expected to complete the procurement process by the end of the current month.
“Almost 70 percent materials have already been purchased and the rests will be procured by September,” EC’s senior secretary Akhtar Ahmed told reporters.
He said the EC was not concerned about procuring required equipment and reaching them at the field level in time.
The top EC bureaucrat said the United Nations Development Agency (UNDP) would provide “stamp pads” and “indelible inks” while the UN agency assured EC to supply them by October 15 and reach a portion of the crucial equipment by this month.
Ahmed said the commission procured eight materials from the domestic market including marking seals, seals, red wax seals, locks for transparent ballot boxes and hessian bags, brass, big and small hessian bags, and gunny bags.
The other materials included ballot papers and ballot boxes while the senior secretary said EC planned to complete field level distribution of those equipment by November 16.
