NLASO provides free legal assistance to about 12.84 lakh people since 2009

DHAKA, Sept 22, 2025(BSS) - The National Legal Aid Services Organization (NLASO) has provided legal assistance to 12,83,997 people across the country from 2009 to August this year through government expenditure.

According to a report published on the website of the organization, it has also rendered legal assistance for the insolvent and poor people against 4,38,474 cases during the period.

Besides, the Supreme Court legal aid office so far provided legal services to 29,696 people from the government expenditure while the legal aid offices in 64 districts have given free legal services to 10,33,196 people.     

The legal assistance cells in Dhaka and Chattogram provided 29,533 legal suggestions to the poor and involvement people at that time.  The NLASO toll free helpline has provided free services to 1,90,572 during the period.

The National Legal Aid Services Organization has been providing legal assistance to the financially insolvent and marginalized poor people without any expenses. 

The services were initially introduced for the poor and insolvent people at district levels. Later, it was introduced in the Supreme Court through a toll-free number (16430) and a call centre and two specialized cells in Dhaka and Chattogram.

The NLASO has been rendering the services under the direct supervision of the Law and Justice Division of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.
