Court imposes travel ban on Hasina, Quader, 55 others

DHAKA, Sept 22, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today imposed travel ban on 57 people including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina and former roads and bridges minister Obaidul Quader in connected with an attempted murder case. 

Metropolitan Magistrate (MM) Jewel Rana imposed the ban on August 4 following a petition submitted by the Investigation Office of the case filed with Badda Thana, Sub-Inspector Zakir Hossain, General Registration Officer (GRO) of Badda court told BSS today.

The other prominent accused of the case are former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and former chief of the Detective Branch (DB) of police Harun-or-Rashid, the GRO added.

According to the prosecution, the complaint of the case Akash received bullet injuries at Badda area on August 5 while police and Awami League (AL) cadres allegedly attacked him during the last year’s mass uprising. After getting well, he filed a case in this connection against 57 people including former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and former minister and general secretary of AL Obaidul Quader on April 22 last.
