Saudi Arabia holds special place in hearts of Bangladeshis: Jahangir

DHAKA, Sept 22, 2025 (BSS) - Home Adviser Lieutenant General (retd.) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has said the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) holds a special place in the hearts of Bangladeshi people. 

“It is not only the holy land of Islam but also the second home of our more than 3.2 million expatriate workers,” he said. 

He was speaking as the chief guest at a program organized by the Saudi Embassy in Bangladesh to mark the 95th National Day of Saudi Arabia at the Grand Ballroom of Hotel Sheraton in Banani tonight, said a Home Ministry press release.

The Home Adviser said that the contribution of Saudi expatriates is an important pillar of Bangladesh's economic progress and it is also working as a bridge of friendship between the two countries. 

“Saudi Arabia's continued support for the welfare of Bangladeshi expatriates is a testimony of the close friendship between the two countries,’ he said.

Jahangir said that Saudi Arabia has embarked on an ambitious journey towards Vision 2030 under the visionary leadership of Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud.

The Saudi leadership's cooperation in modernizing and diversifying Bangladesh economy and enriching future generations is undoubtedly commendable, he also said. 

The Adviser said that the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia have demonstrated extraordinary statesmanship in enhancing regional stability and contributing to world peace, he added. 

His leadership has further strengthened the unity of the Muslim Ummah, he opined. 

The event was attended by Saudi Ambassador to Bangladesh Dr. Abdullah Jafar H. bin Abiyyah, members of the diplomatic corps of different countries, high-ranking government officials, prominent industrialists, businessmen and persons from different walks of life.
