7 burnt in Mohakhali petrol pump explosion

DHAKA, Sept 23, 2025 (BSS) - Seven labourers sustained burn injuries in a gas explosion today while they were cleaning the oil tank of petrol pump at capital’s Mohakali.
 
The incident occurred around 12:10 pm today, police and hospital sources said.   
 
The burn victims were rescued and taken to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery this afternoon for treatment around 2pm today, Resident Surgeon of the NIBPS Dr. Shawon Bin Rahman confirmed.
 
“Two of the burn injured are in critical condition as they suffered 32 to 35 percent   injuries,” he said.
 
The burn victims are Swapan Molla (21), Md Kabir (20), Khairul Islam (28), Md Robel, (30), Masudur Rahman (44), Alamgir Hossain (41), and Sajeeb (38).
 
Jahangir Alam, brother of burn victim Alamgir, said that they all worked as labourers in a company.
 
They suffered burn injuries while they were cleaning the oil tank of a petrol pump at Mohakali under Gulshan Police Station around this noon, he said.
