DHAKA, Sept 24, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh has urged Malaysian employers to
recruit manpower from Bangladesh through the state-owned recruiting agency
BOESL at lower cost, while assuring quality workers and expanded cooperation
in labor welfare and skills development.
The call came at a bilateral meeting between the Bangladesh delegation led by
Saiful Islam, Managing Director of Bangladesh Overseas Employment and
Services Limited (BOESL), and the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM)
at the FMM headquarters in Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday, according to g to a
message received here today.
FMM Deputy President Jacob Lee, Vice President and Chairman of the Human
Resource Management Committee Dato' Nathan K Suppiah, Deputy CEO Hema
Thiruchelvam, and senior officials including Sofina Abdul Halim joined the
meeting, along with company representatives.
Saiful Islam expressed gratitude to Malaysian employers for their long-
standing trust in Bangladeshi workers and urged them to continue working with
BOESL to ensure transparent and affordable recruitment.
He highlighted Bangladesh's readiness to provide skilled manpower and
underscored BOESL's role in safeguarding both employers' and workers'
interests.
During the talks, both sides discussed a wide range of labor-related issues,
including welfare, bilateral cooperation, and future needs of the Malaysian
job market.
FMM members praised the performance and skills of Bangladeshi workers and
reaffirmed their willingness to employ them in the future.
They, however, stressed the need for enhanced training to equip workers with
additional skills to remain competitive.
The Bangladesh delegation also included Acting High Commissioner of
Bangaldesh to Malaysia Mosammat Shahanara Monika, Policy Adviser of the
Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Zia Hasan, Deputy
Secretary Hedayetul Islam Mondol, BOESL's authorized agent in Malaysia
Jaswant Singh, BOESL General Manager Noor Ahmed, and First Secretary
(Commercial) of the High Commission Pronab Kumar Ghosh.
On September 23 and 24, the BOESL team also met with several Malaysian
government departments to explore deeper cooperation in recruitment,
training, accreditation, and overall labor mobility.
