International Day for Universal Access to Information to be observed on Sept 28

DHAKA, Sept 25, 2025 (BSS) - The International Day for Universal Access to Information will be observed on Sunday (September 28) in the country as elsewhere in the world to raise public awareness on the right to access to information.

The theme of this year’s International Day for Universal Access to Information is-“Ensuring Access to Environmental Information in the Digital Age.”

To mark the day, an elaborate programme has been chalked out to observe the day in a befitting manner across the country, according to a statement issued by the Information Commission Bangladesh here today.

The programmes include holding a seminar in Dhaka at 3:00 PM on September 28 at the auditorium of the Information Commission Bangladesh while separate discussions would be organized in district level.

Adviser to the ministry of Information and Broadcasting Mahfuj Alam is expected to attend the event as the chief guest while ministry’s secretary Mahbuba Farzana as special guest with Information Commission Secretary Nur Md. Mahbubul Haque in the chair.

Executive Director of Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) Dr. Iftekharuzzaman will present the keynote speech at the seminar.

Other programmes of the day include dissemination of the day’s theme via mobile SMS, promotional content on digital media and advertising boards, and banners and festoons on official websites.
