Namaj-e-Janaza of fireman Nayem held at FSCD Headquarters

DHAKA, Sept 27, 2025 (BSS) - Colleagues, relatives and the nation bid tearful farewell to Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) Warehouse Inspector Md. Khandaker Jannatul Nayem. 

Nayem died at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery (NIBPS) around 10am today after fighting for life for six days as he suffered 42 percent burn injuries in the chemical warehouse explosion at Tongi in Gazipur district on September 22. 
 
His namaj-e-janaza was held at the FSCD Headquarters around 2:30 pm today. 

Home Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Special Assistant to Chief Adviser on Ministry of Home Affairs Md. Khuda Baksh Chowdhury, Brigadier General Muhammad Zaheed Kamal, officers and employees of various ranks of the ministry and the fire service, were present at the janaza. 

Before the janaza, the Home Adviser paid tribute by placing a wreath on the coffin of martyr Jannatul Nayem.

At the time, a smart contingent of fire fighters provided a guard of honor.

 Later, a brief biography of the late Nayem was read. 

Earlier, in a message of condolence, the Home Adviser prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.  

The martyr's father-in-law, in an emotional speech, asked everyone to forgive and pray for his son-in-law. 

After the speech, Muhaddis Kazi Sharif Ullah, a religious teacher of the Fire Service and Civil Defense, conducted the janaza prayer.

Later, the ambulance carrying the body of Nayem started its journey on the way to his village home in Garduara village under Nakla Upazila of Sherpur, where he will be buried.

Earlier on September 22, three firemen including Shamim and Nurul Huda and Nayem who suffered critical burn injuries in the chemical warehouse blast at Tongi, died at the burn institute on September 23, 24 and 27 respectively.  

While one of their colleague, Joy Hasan (24) is now undergoing treatment at the burn institute with 5 percent burn injuries.
