3 dengue patients die, 700 hospitalised in 24 hrs

DHAKA, Oct 8, 2025 (BSS) - Three more dengue patients died and 700 were hospitalised across the country during the last 24 hours.

Of the newly hospitalized patients, 105 were admitted in Barishal Division (outside City Corporation), 61 in Chattogram Division (outside City Corporation), 149 in Dhaka Division (outside City Corporation), 155 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 110 in Dhaka South City Corporation, 45 in Khulna Division (outside City Corporation), 33 in Mymensingh Division (outside City Corporation), 31 in Rajshahi Division (outside City Corporation), 6 in Rangpur Division (outside City Corporation) and 5 in Sylhet Division (outside City Corporation). 

During the same period, 744 dengue patients were released from hospitals after recovery, raising the total number of recoveries this year to 49,411, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

So far in 2025, a total of 52,104 dengue cases have been recorded, of which 61 percent are male and 39 percent female, the DGHS release added.

With the latest three deaths, the total number of fatalities from dengue this year has reached 220.

Last year, the total number of cases rose to 1,01,214, while 575 deaths from the dengue disease were reported.
