DHAKA, Oct 8, 2025 (BSS) - Home Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury today said the Interim Government has purchased 418 vehicles for the police to deliver fastest service to the people's doorsteps.

"In order to ensure quick and effective services to the citizens, the government purchased a total of 418 vehicles including 200 double cabin pickups, 152 motorcycles and 66 other vehicles for the police to solve their vehicle problems,' he said.

He revealed the information after handing over 20 double cabin pickups to Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) at its headquarters here.

The Home Adviser said that the number of police vehicles is less than the requirement.

A total of 526 government vehicles of Bangladesh Police were burnt and destroyed during the July mass uprising from July 1 to August 6, 2024.

Of the damaged vehicles, 241 were double cabin pickups, 217 motorcycles and 68 other vehicles.

The Home Adviser expressed optimism that with these new vehicles and equipment, Bangladesh Police will be able to deliver effective and fastest services to the doorsteps of the people.

"The vehicles will help police to ensure the overall security of the country," he said.

DMP Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali and additional commissioners of DMP were present.
