APBN arrests two with 761 gram gold at HSIA

DHAKA, Oct 10, 2025 (BSS) - The 13th Armed Police Battalion (APBN) at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) today arrested two people with 761 grams of gold.

The arrestees were identified as Md Kabir Hossain, 53, and Kuddus, 41, according to a press release issued by the APBN.Kabir Hossain had been working as a boarding bridge operator at the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh.

Passengers at Glass Gate No. 3 of Terminal 1 became suspicious last night after witnessing Kabir handing over a small bag to Kuddus, which drew attention among those present.

Following interrogation and a search, APBN recovered four gold bars weighing a total of 761 grams from three small bags. According to the press release, the seized gold was smuggled into the country illegally, evading customs duties.

The arrestees were allegedly involved in a gold trafficking syndicate and acted as receivers inside the airport, the APBN said. A case has been filed against them at the Airport Police Station.

Commenting on the arrest, 13th APBN Operational Commander Mohammad Muzammel Haque said security forces remain vigilant to prevent any form of trafficking within the airport area.
