BGB seizes smuggled goods worth over Tk 171.60 crore in Sept

DHAKA, Oct 12, 2025 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized various types of smuggled goods and contraband drugs worth over Taka 171.60 crore from different parts of the country, including border areas, said a BGB press release.

The seized contraband includes - 6.356 kg of gold, 1.650 kg of silver, 9,248 saris, 13,558 three-piece/shirt-piece/chadar/blankets, 11,461 ready-made garments, 1,286 meters of than cloth, 3,91,793 cosmetics, 2,952 pieces of imitation jewellery, 13,61,276 fireworks, 4,202 cubic feet of wood, 2,035 kg of tea leaves, 11,377 kg of betel nut, 81,780 kg of coal, 735 cubic feet of stone, 4,630 cubic feet of sand, 6,349 kg of yarn/curtain/door net, 379 mobile phones, 3,443 mobile displays, 35,062 spectacles, 17,269 pieces of vehicle parts, 32,778 kg of cumin, 17,641 kg of sugar, 9,451 kg of onion, 130 kg of garlic, 13,276 kg of fertilizer, 4,164 packets of various seeds, 1,581 packets of pesticides, 189 liters of diesel, 4,39,034 pieces of chocolate, 73,540 Indian rupees, 30,000 US dollars, 1,525 cows/buffaloes, 19 trucks/covered vans, 12 pickups/Mahindras, one tractor, four private cars/microbuses, six trolleys, 130 boats, 36 CNGs/easy bikes, 66 motorcycles, and 67 bicycles/vans.

The BGB personnel also seized two domestic/country-made pistols, two magazines, 100 rounds of ammunition, and three other weapons.

In addition, a huge amount of narcotics was seized by the BGB last month.

The seized narcotics and intoxicants include - 20,87,143 pieces of Yaba tablets, 4.663 kg of heroin, 4,491 bottles of Phensedyl, 12,113 bottles of foreign liquor, 384 liters of Bengali liquor, 1,108 cans of beer, 1,298 kg of marijuana, 2,24,811 packets of bidis and cigarettes, 10 kg of tobacco leaves, 57,745 narcotic tablets/injections, 4,384 bottles of Escafe syrup, 12,249 Anegra/Senegra tablets, 40 bottles of Cofidyl-M syrup, and 7,54,258 pieces of various medicines and other tablets.

BGB also arrested 198 smugglers alongside capturing 1,197 Bangladeshi citizens and nine Indian citizens for illegally crossing the border and involvement in various types of drug trafficking, including Yaba.

Legal action has been taken against them.

In addition, 805 Myanmar citizens were returned to their country while trying to enter Bangladesh illegally.
