DHAKA, Oct 12, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Board of Directors Chairman and Joint Editor of the Daily Ittefaq Anwar Aldin has called upon journalists to be more responsible and cautious in presenting accurate and quality news instead of joining the race for sensationalism.

"There was a time when newspapers dominated the scene. Then came electronic media-a new world of visuals and sound. Both mediums still exist, but the digital revolution has changed the entire landscape," he said.

Anwar Aldin made the remarks while speaking as the keynote discussant at a special discussion titled "The Future of News", organized by the London Bangla Press Club today.

Referring to the ongoing transformation in media, Anwar said it is difficult to predict the future of basic journalism amid the dominance of digital
platforms, social media, and the advent of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

"Journalists must strive to remain credible and trustworthy to readers and viewers. In the deluge of misinformation and disinformation, the media's duty is to help audience identify what is true and meaningful," he added.

The BSS Chairman said that while technology has made news faster and more accessible, it has also created new challenges for fact-checking and ensuring authenticity.

"The future of journalism will be increasingly data-driven and faster than ever before. At the same time, online research has made it much easier to access global information within seconds," he said.

Journalists and media professionals attending the event took part in a lively discussion and Question and Answer session on the changing dynamics of media, the rise of citizen journalism, and the growing influence of social media.

Chaired by London Bangla Press Club President Muhammad Jubair and conducted by General Secretary Taisir Mahmud, it was also addressed by Club's founding president Muhib Chowdhury, former presidents Belal Ahmed and Emdadul Haque Chowdhury, former vice president Rahmat Ali, poet and journalist Sarwar E Alam and journalist Abdul Munim Zahid Karroll.

During the ceremony, Anwar Al Din was greeted with flowers and presented with a crest of honor by the London Bangla Press Club. Club Treasurer Saleh Ahmed, Assistant Secretary Rezaul Karim Mridha, Organizing Secretary Akramul Hossain, Media Secretary Abdul Hannan, Event Secretary Rupy Amin, Executive Member Zakir Hossain Kayes, and other officials were also present.

While addressing, Club president Muhammad Jubair said, "The media is undergoing a new phase of evolution. Often, a single social media post by a citizen can outshine traditional news outlets. Influencers are now generating news, and some of the most discussed stories originate from those posts. Yet, investigative and high-quality journalism will always earn readers' trust."

He added, "We are proud to organize this special program featuring award-winning journalist Anwar Al Din, whose contribution to investigative
reporting has been exemplary. This data-driven discussion has been truly enlightening for all of us."

General Secretary Taisir Mahmud said, "We want to honor Bangladesh's leading journalists in a meaningful and educational way-beyond conventional formats. That is what we focus on."
