KHULNA, Oct 13, 2025 (BSS) - Nara Institute of Science and Technology (NAIST) of Japan has offered expanding research and academic collaboration with Khulna University (KU), particularly in the field of biological sciences.

NAIST has been maintaining a longstanding research partnership with KU’s Pharmacy Discipline, under which several joint studies have already been conducted. Currently, three KU graduates are pursuing their PhD research at NAIST.

As part of that collaboration process, Professor Naoyuki Inagaki, Vice Dean of NAIST, and Professor Yasumasa Bessho visited Khulna University on Monday.

They attended a seminar and discussion session organized by the Pharmacy Discipline and later met with KU administrative officials.

During the meeting, KU Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Harunur Rashid Khan thanked the Japanese professors for their interest in strengthening academic cooperation with KU

The NAIST representatives conveyed their willingness to initiate joint research programmes and faculty exchange.

In this regard the two institutions would sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) soon, he hoped.
