DHAKA, Oct 14, 2025 (BSS) - A total of 10 teachers and 156 students from the
Faculty of Arts of the Dhaka University (DU) have been honored with the
prestigious Dean's Award for their outstanding academic and research
achievements spanning the years 2021, 2022 and 2023.

The award ceremony was held today at the Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate
Building of the university.

Students from 17 departments under the Faculty of Arts received awards for
their academic excellence while teachers were recognized in four categories
for their contributions through published research books and original
articles in reputed national and international journals.

The ceremony commenced with the national anthem, followed by recitations from
the Holy Scriptures. A cultural segment featuring performances by students of
the Faculty of Arts added a celebratory tone to the event.

DU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmad Khan was present at the
ceremony as the chief guest with DU Arts faculty Dean Prof Dr. Mohammad
Siddiqur Rahman Khan in the chair.

Pro-VC (Administration), Prof Dr. Saima Haque Bidisha joined the event as
special guest.

Former Dean Prof Dr. Sadrul Amin delivered a keynote speech while department
heads announced the names of the award-winning students and faculty dean
announced the name of the awardee teachers.

The VC said, "Despite many limitations, we have been able to recognize
education to some extent through this arrangement. "

"However, it is important to give time to family as well as studies. The
balance between family and academic life will enrich the future," he added.

Prof Dr. Mohammad Siddiqur Rahman Khan said, "This recognition has increased
our social responsibility and sense of responsibility towards you all. You
will always be honest in your thoughts and actions. The knowledge acquired
should be shared generously for the benefit of society, not out of pride."
