THAKURGAON, Oct 15, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakrul Islam Alamgir today said the party doesn't want politics of vengeance and division in the country.
"We do not want the politics of vengeance and division. We want to establish a state of peace. Do not cause further division. The country has suffered a great deal. We all want to work together to truly build a beautiful Bangladesh," he said.
Fakhrul made the remarks while addressing local people as the chief guest at an electoral rally held on the Gopalpur Government Primary School playground under Garaiya union here.
He said, "I have been to jail eleven times because fascist Sheikh Hasina was afraid of me. Many of our boys have sacrificed their lives for a democratic system. So, let us all unite and work together to build the country. This is the opportunity and the time to build the country beautifully."
Regarding the demands of the political parties, Fakhrul said, "Some parties have taken to the streets with their demands and I do not believe their intentions are good. I urge you to suspend your demands for now. This is not the time for demands; this is the time to return to elections and the democratic process. Do not create any more divisions."
Mentioning the signing of the July Charter, he added, "The July Charter will be signed on October 17. Reform is like changing the tin roof of a house. Just as the doors or tin roof of a house need to be changed every few years, politics also needs some reforms. That is why the political figures and students of our country feel that reform is necessary to fix the country."
Thakurgaon Sadar Upazila BNP President Abdul Hamid presided over the event while District BNP President Mirza Faisal Amin, General Secretary Poygam Ali, General Secretary of the Sadar Upazila BNP Mahbub Hossain Tuhin, among others, spoke in the event.
