DHAKA, Oct 15, 2025 (BSS) – Sri Lankan high commission here announced that all foreign nationals, including Bangladeshi travellers, will be required to obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) before arriving in Sri Lanka for tourism purposes, effective from today.

According to the High Commission, the directive comes in line with new instructions from the Department of Immigration and Emigration of Sri Lanka aimed at ensuring smoother entry procedures and enhanced border management.

Travellers intending to visit Sri Lanka for tourism may obtain the ETA through either of the following two methods - by submitting online applications via the official ETA website - www.eta.gov.lk – or by applying directly through the High Commission of Sri Lanka in Dhaka.

The High Commission requested all foreign nationals intending to visit Sri Lanka to ensure that they secure their ETAs well in advance of their departure to avoid any inconvenience.

The Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) system is a part of Sri Lanka’s digital transformation initiative designed to simplify visa processing and improve the overall travel experience for international visitors.
