AC explosion: another youth dies at CMCH

CHATTOGRAM, Oct 17, 2025 (BSS)- Another youth, Md. Mishkat, 28, who was injured in an AC explosion at Chattogram Medical College and Hospital (CMCH), succumbed to his injuries this morning while undergoing treatment at the hospital.
 
Mishkat, a resident of Baharchhara Union in Banshkhali upazila, along with two others outsourcing technicians from Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) was received severe burn injuries in an explosion while repairing an Air Condition (AC) at the Gynecology Ward, seventh floor of the hospital, on Monday morning. 

The technicians-- Shawkat Osman, Mishkat, and Shakhawat-- were rushed to the burn unit of the CMCH in critical condition. 

Shawkat passed away on the same day of the incident and Mishkat succumbed to his injuries this morning.

Nurul Alam Ashek, in-charge of the CMCH Police Outpost, reported that an explosion was caused by an electrical short-circuit while repairing an AC at the Gynecology Ward of the hospital. 

"Three youths were injured in the blast. Of them, two succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment at the CMCH. The condition of the third one remains critical," he added.
