DHAKA, Oct 17, 2025 (BSS) - Police in separate drives have arrested four leaders of Awami League (AL) and its affiliated organisations from the capital and Bandarban district on Thursday (October 16).

The arrested are AL sub-committee on Relief and Social Welfare Member Md Abdul Jalil, 39, Habiganj Madhabpur upazila Shramik League Convener Md Habibur Rahman, Shariatpur Naria upazilla Jubo League member Md Shawkat Ali alias Shawkat Choiyal, 45, and President of Dhaka South City unit Muktijoddha Projanma League Md Atikur Rahman, 54.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in a press release said a team of Detective Branch (DB) of Police arrested Abdul Jalil from the capital's Kafrul area at around 5.35 pm on October 16. 

In another drive, DB Ramna Division team detained Md Habibur Rahman from Moghbazar intersection area in the city at 9.30 pm. 

Meanwhile, a team of the DB Wari Division picked up Shawkat Choiyal from Mirhajirbagh area of the capital's Jatrabari area at 9.00 pm, while a team of DB Tejgaon Division arrested Md Atikur Rahman from Bandarban district last 
night.

Process of taking legal actions against the arrested persons is underway, the DMP release added.
