One dengue patient die, 619 hospitalised in 24 hrs

DHAKA, Oct 18, 2025 (BSS) - One dengue patient died and 619 were admitted to hospitals across the country during the last 24 hours.

The information was disclosed in a press release issued by the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) today.

Of the newly hospitalized patients, 126 were admitted in Barishal Division (outside City Corporation), 104 in Chattogram Division (outside City Corporation), 44 in Dhaka Division (outside City Corporation), 117 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 76 in Dhaka South City Corporation, 43 in Khulna Division, 43 in Mymensingh Division (outside City Corporation), 75 in Rajshahi Division and one in Sylhet Division.

During the period, 1,129 dengue patients were discharged from hospitals, bringing the total number of recoveries this year to 55,963.

According to the DGHS, a total of 58,899 dengue patients have been hospitalised so far in 2025 while 244 deaths have been reported due to dengue this year.

In 2024, Bangladesh recorded 101,214 dengue cases and 575 deaths.
