DHAKA, Oct 20, 2025 (BSS) - Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) today arrested one more accused in the Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) student rape case from the city's Diabari area at Uttara.

The arrestee, Biplab Rojario, 40, is the second accused in the case, said a brief message of the elite force.

Biplob is a known drug dealer and an accused in multiple cases, said police sources.

Earlier in a late night operation on Saturday, police arrested Mithu Biswas (44), the prime accused in the case filed over the rape from Tejkunipara area in Tejgaon.

He was taken on a three-day remand for interrogation the following day.

Earlier, on Thursday evening, the 25-year-old victim, a former BUP student, filed the case against three people under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act with Savar Model Police Station.

The case names three accused, Mithu Biswas, Sohel Rozario (37), and Biplob Rozario (40), all residents of the same area.

The case details said that the incident took place last Tuesday evening. After returning home from tutoring, the victim found her house locked and learned that her mother had left the key at a nearby tea stall.

When she went to retrieve it, Sohel intercepted her and began questioning her. Shortly after, Mithu and Biplob joined him.

They allegedly forced the young woman into Sohel's house, where Sohel raped her while the other two assisted.

Before releasing her, the trio threatened to kill her if she disclosed the incident to anyone.
