NU's 33rd founding anniversary observed today

DHAKA, Oct 21, 2025 (BSS) - The teachers, students, officials and employees 
of National University (NU) have celebrated its 33rd founding anniversary 
through various programmes like a colorful entertainment rally and cutting 
cakes.

NU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr ASM Amanullah led the rally, said a 
university press release here today.

Pro-VC Prof M Lutfar Rahman and Prof Dr M Nurul Islam and Treasurer Prof Dr 
ATM Jafrul Azam were also present in the event.

All the deans, registrar, departmental head, teachers, officials, employees 
and students of the university participated in the rally to mark the day.

Later, a cake-cutting ceremony was held marking the founding anniversary of 
the university.

The National University started its journey on October 21 in 1992 for 
disseminating higher education in the country, particularly providing degree 
and post graduation degree through college and different educational 
institutions.

The initiative has widespread the higher education facilities significantly 
and the university has fulfilled 33 years of its continuous success.

At present, 2,257 colleges and educational institutions remain under the 
National University. A total of nearly 38 lakh students which are 70 percent 
of the total higher education are now reading under its [NU] different 
educational activities.
