DHAKA, Oct 21, 2025 (BSS) - The Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment today denied rumours circulating on social and mainstream media claiming that Qatar has stopped issuing visas for Bangladeshi nationals.

In a statement, the ministry termed the reports completely false and baseless, saying that Qatar's labour market remains open and active for Bangladeshi workers.

"Between September 2024 and September 2025, a total of 111,662 Bangladeshi workers went to Qatar for employment, bringing the total number of Bangladeshis currently working there to 425,681," the statement said.

The ministry said the misleading information appeared to be a deliberate attempt by certain quarters to confuse the public and damage the country's overseas employment sector. It urged everyone not to believe or spread such misinformation.

It also warned against false propaganda regarding so-called "free visas" for employment in Qatar, clarifying that no such visa category exists.

The ministry advised all concerned to remain vigilant against such deceptive claims.
