
DHAKA, Nov 18, 2025 (BSS) – The government today approved a proposal to import one cargo LNG from Singapore to meet the growing demand of energy in the country.
The approval came from the 46th meeting of the Advisers Council Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) in this year held today at the Cabinet Division Conference Room at Bangladesh Secretariat with Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed in the chair.
Following a proposal from the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, Petrobangla would procure one cargo LNG from the spot market from BP Singapore Pte Limited Singapore through following international quotation method with a cost of around Taka 489.88 crore where per MMBtu LNG would cost $11.64.
The day’s purchase committee meeting also approved several key infrastructure-related proposals, including the construction of a new fertilizer buffer godown and including a variation in consultancy services for a major railway development project.
As part of ongoing efforts to expand the country’s fertilizer storage network, the committee approved the construction of a 10,000-metric-ton capacity buffer godown in Satkhira under the project titled “Construction of 34 Buffer Godowns for Fertilizer Storage and Distribution (1st Revised).”
Under Package-5, Lot-1, the work has been awarded to M/S SS Rahman International Ltd. at a contract value of Taka 55.25 crore.
Officials said the new facility will enhance regional storage capacity and support a smoother and more efficient distribution mechanism across the country.
In another major decision, the purchase committee meeting cleared a variation proposal for consultancy services under Package SD-3 of the project “Construction of Single Line Dual Gauge Track from Dohazari to Cox’s Bazar and Ramu to Ghumdhum (2nd Revised).”
Besides, the day’s meeting approved two proposals under the Road Transport and Highways Division and the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism.
