Navy honours gallantry awardee freedom fighters, peacetime medals conferred marking Armed Forces Day

DHAKA, Nov 21, 2025 (BSS)- Marking the observance of Armed Forces Day 2025, the Bangladesh Navy today accorded a reception to its gallantry awardee Freedom Fighters and their heirs, and presented peacetime medals to naval personnel for acts of bravery, dedication and distinguished service.

The event was held at Sagarika Hall of the Naval Headquarters, where Chief of Naval Staff Admiral M Nazmul Hassan formally handed over the crests to the heroic freedom fighters and conferred the peacetime medals on the award recipients, an ISPR press release said. 

Senior naval officers, gallantry award recipients, their family members and distinguished guests attended the ceremony.

This year, the Navy honoured 22 gallantry awardee Freedom Fighters and their heirs for their contribution to the Liberation War. A total of 40 naval personnel received peacetime medals in recognition of exceptional courage, devotion and professional excellence.

Family members of Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Ruhul Amin, along with five Bir Uttam, eight Bir Bikrom and eight Bir Protik freedom fighters and their families, also attended the programme.
