DHAKA, Dec 1, 2025 (BSS) - The Election Commission (EC) will not accept applications to correct seven types of information, including a voter’s own name, on the National Identity Card (NID) as the work of finalizing the voter list for the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election and the referendum is underway.

The other six items are father’s name, mother’s name, occupation, date of birth, voter’s address, and photograph.

Senior Secretary of the EC Secretariat Akhtar Ahmed gave this information during a briefing at Nirbachan Bhaban in the capital’s Agargaon today.

“We had suspended NID corrections earlier. Now, corrections for several issues will remain suspended because we are finalizing the voter list. For this reason, a voter’s name, father’s name, mother’s name, occupation, date of birth, voter’s address, and photograph—these seven items cannot be changed at this moment. After we finalize the voter list, the commission will decide whether these seven correction categories can be reopened,” he said.

Akhtar Ahmed said at this moment, corrections for the following information are allowed: spouse’s name, marital status, educational qualification, religion, type of disability, other addresses except voter address information, telephone number, mobile number and so on.

However, the seven categories mentioned earlier cannot be updated now because changes in name or address would affect the voter list, he said.

He added the new NID registration process remains active and will continue. There is no restriction on new NID registrations, he said.
