No irregularities in Aman procurement will be accepted: Food adviser

CUMILLA, Dec 8, 2025 (BSS) – Food and Land Adviser Ali Imam Majumder today said no irregularities or corruption will be accepted in the Aman procurement.

“Stringent action will be taken against those who will involve with any irregularities during this drive”, he said.

The adviser said this while addressing as the chief guest at a views exchange meeting at Cumilla circuit house on aman and foodgrain procurement for FY2025-26 of the district here.
 
The rice and paddy procurement during the current aman season have already begun and it will continue till February 28, next year. 

All concerned have been asked to procure rice and paddy of the aman season as per the scheduled target.

He said since the national election scheduled to be held in February, the scheduled procurement drive should try to complete by December.
 
He said the millers who fulfilled their procurement target should give target for additional allocation. “As much as we can procure, we can reduce the import dependency”, Majumder told the function.

“We will try not only to fulfill the target, but also to make maximum food stock. We made record Boro procurement this year,” the adviser said.

The food adviser said humidity of the paddy will be accepted when a farmer will directly sell the produces to millers. Rotten rice found in the millers’ godown will not be acceptable.

Talking about the procurement price, adviser Ali Imam Majumder said the rice and paddy procurement price has been increased considering the situation of the farmers.

The government will purchase per kg paddy at a price of Taka 34, parboiled rice at Taka 50 and Atap rice at Taka 49. The present government is committed to keep all the works at convenient level for the subsequent government.
