DHAKA, Dec 9, 2025 (BSS) - In the wake of Monday's shocking double murder allegedly involving a domestic worker in the capital's Mohammadpur, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali has called on city residents to exercise greater caution when employing household help.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, he noted that incidents of theft and absconding with valuables by domestic workers are not new, and many such crimes could be prevented through proper identity verification.

For enhanced safety, the DMP Commissioner urged homeowners to collect and preserve copies of the domestic worker's national identity card, a recent passport-sized photograph, and the names and addresses of at least two reliable references before hiring.

He also called on citizens to cooperate with law enforcement by accurately completing tenant registration forms, which help police maintain updated information essential for crime prevention.

Commissioner Sazzat Ali said increased public awareness and proper documentation can significantly reduce such incidents and ensure greater security for residents of the capital.
