BAGERHAT, Dec 9, 2025 (BSS) - A discussion and an award ceremony were held here in the district this afternoon to mark the Begum Rokeya Day, where five women were honoured with the "Indomitable Women Award" for their achievements in various fields. 

The programme took place in the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner's office.

The meeting was chaired by Sahela Parveen, Deputy Director of the District Women's Affairs Department. Additional Deputy Commissioner Md Muminur Rahman, Additional Superintendent of Police Muhammad Mohidur Rahman and representatives from different professions also addressed the event.

At the conclusion of the discussion, five women were recognised for their contributions. The awardees are Sharmin Sultana, honoured for success in the economic sector, Bithi Rani Sarkar, recognised as a successful mother, Mst Fatema Khatun, acknowledged as a woman who triumphed through struggle, Sumi Begum and Runa Gazi, awarded for contributions to social development.
