Two fugitives held in separate raids in Uttara

DHAKA, Dec 9, 2025 (BSS) - Police have arrested two fugitives, including a convicted accused on various charges, in separate raids in the capital's Uttara area.

The arrestees were identified as Omar Faruk (42) and K.M. Shihab Uddin (47). 

Muhammad Talebur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner (media) of Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, confirmed the arrest. 

According to police sources, the e-fraud investigation team of the City-Cyber Crime Investigation Division arrested Faruk around 7:00 pm on Monday during a raid in Uttara Sector 3. 

Faruk was wanted in multiple cases, including charges under the Money Laundering Prevention Act. 

In another operation earlier the same day at 5:45 pm, the special operations team of the Transnational Crime Division detained fugitive convict K.M. Shihab Uddin (47) from the Uttara Paschim Police Station area. 

Shihab Uddin had been sentenced to one year in prison and fined Tk 35 lakh and had been absconding.
