JU observes Martyred Intellectuals Day with due solemnity

JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY, Dec 14, 2025 (BSS) - Jahangirnagar University (JU) today observed the Martyred Intellectuals Day with due solemnity, paying rich tributes to the intellectuals who were brutally killed during the Liberation War in 1971.

As part of the observance, Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr. Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan placed a wreath at the Martyred Intellectuals' Memorial at Mirpur around 9:30 am, said a press release signed by JU's acting Director of the Public Relations Office this afternoon. 

During the wreath-laying ceremony, Pro-VC (Administration) Prof Dr. Sohel Ahmed, Treasurer Prof Dr. M. Abdur Rab, Deans of different faculties, acting registrar, proctor, provosts of residential halls, leaders of the Teachers' 
Association, Officers' Association, Employees' Association and Employees' Union were present alongside the vice-chancellor.

After the vice-chancellor's homage, the JU Teachers' Association, provosts of different halls, and leaders of Jahangirnagar University Central Students' Union (JUCSU) also paid tribute to the Martyred Intellectuals by placing wreaths at the memorial.

Later, leaders of various professional bodies of the university joined the programme and offered their respect to the martyred intellectuals.
