
DHAKA, Dec 15, 2025 (BSS) - The Election Commission (EC) has said misleading interpretations are being circulated in various media outlets and on social media centering a portion of the remarks made by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin.
The EC, in a press release, said circulation of confusing explanations in different media and on social networking platforms drew its attention regarding a part of the speech delivered by the CEC Nasir Uddin at the "Gen Vote Festival" held this morning.
The CEC has attached the highest importance to the terrorist attack carried out on Inquilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi, said the press release.
Following the incident, the EC convened an emergency meeting at 4 pm on December 14 with the participation of top-level officials of the law enforcement agencies.
At the meeting, the CEC instructed the law enforcement agencies concerned to arrest and bring the attackers to justice as quickly as possible.
At the same time, the EC expressed deep concern over the shooting of Sharif Osman Hadi and directed that all necessary and effective measures be taken to prevent such terrorist activities in the future.
The EC further said in his remarks, the CEC essentially emphasized that no incident such as the terrorist attack on Sharif Osman Hadi would be able to obstruct the upcoming national election in any way. The EC remains firmly committed to holding a free, fair, neutral and peaceful election and all necessary steps will be taken to maintain law and order to achieve this goal.
The press release also said that the EC wished Sharif Osman Hadi a speedy recovery and expressed deep sympathy for his family members. According to the Commission, this explanatory statement will dispel all misunderstandings that have arisen regarding the CEC's remarks.
