DHAKA, Dec 19, 2025 (BSS) - Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki today visited the Chhayanaut Bhanan and said that everyone involved in the attack and vandalism at the building is being identified analysing CCTV camera footage to bring them under the law.

"Action is being taken after identifying everyone involved in the attack and looting at the Chhayanaut Bhaban by analysing CCTV camera footage," he told journalists after visiting the Bhaban at Shankar in the city's Dhanmondi area this afternoon.

The Adviser inspected the damaged areas, and held discussions with Chhayanaut organiser Partha Tanvir Naved and several officials of the institution, said the Chief Adviser's Press Wing this evening.

Noting that the attack on the Bhaban caused significant damages, Farooki said, "I have informed the Chhayanaut authorities that the government will provide all necessary support, including financial assistance, to ensure that the institution can be reopened as soon as possible after assessing the damage and completing all renovation activities".

He said that members of the Chhayanaut management committee told him they will discuss the matter among themselves and inform him (Farooki) accordingly.

"We are taking the highest measures to ensure the security of this Bhaban. Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and police remain deployed outside Chhayanaut with strict security. I have also discussed this issue with other members of the Council of Advisers," the adviser added.

Responding to a journalist's question, he said this is clearly a conspiracy to foil the elections.

"Today, the focus should have been on Shaheed Osman Hadi. Today was meant to be a day of mourning. Who diverted the issue? Who attacked Prothom Alo, The Daily Star, and Chhayanaut? Those who carried out these attacks do not want Bangladesh's democratic transition," Farooki added.

He further said at this moment of national mourning, a section of "reckless individuals" attacked the cultural organisation Chhayanaut and caused damage with the aim of destabilising the country.

"Carrying out an attack in any cultural institution over the death of the indomitable Hadi is not only a criminal offence, but also goes against the spirit of the July Uprising," Farooki added.
