DHAKA, Jan 10, 2026 (BSS) - Primary and Mass Education Adviser Professor Dr. Bidhan Ranjan Roy Poddar today said emphasis must be given on quality and practice-oriented research of science to take the country forward.

"In our country, science has long been used as an ornamental element rather than being given due importance in practical application," he said while delivering the keynote address during the inauguration of a workshop on 'Research Methodology for NAPE Faculties and Field Level Researchers' at the National Academy for the Primary Education (NAPE) in Mymensingh.

Chaired by the Director General of the National Academy for Primary Education Farid Ahmed, Abu Taher Md. Masud Rana, Secretary of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education virtually joined the event as special guest.

Dr Bidhan stated that the core objective of both the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education and the Ministry of Education is to develop educated students.

To achieve this goal, research must be development-oriented for the education system and focused on solving problems, he said, adding that research topics should be selected in light of real-life problems and the effective role of potential solutions must be given due consideration.

Officials involved in research activities at the field level of the Primary Education Department and faculty members of the NAPE participated in the workshop.
