RUET VC elected as BUC president

RAJSHAHI, Jan 13, 2026 (BSS) - Vice-chancellor (VC) of Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) Prof Abdur Razzaque has been elected as president of Bangladesh University Council (BUC).

In a recently held meeting of BUC constituted with VCs of all public universities, Prof Razzaque has been elected for the important post unanimously, said a RUET press release here this afternoon.

The BUC has been working for overall development of higher education in the country together with making sure that curricula and programmme are regularly updated to meet national needs and global standards.

It ensures high standard education through innovation, discovery, and research to meet 21st-century challenges.

Besides, it provides quality higher education at a minimum cost, particularly for the rural and financially backward population, the release added.
