‘Yes’ vote in referendum to be driving force to build new Bangladesh: CHT Adviser

RANGAMATI, Jan 17, 2026 (BSS) - Adviser to the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT)  Affairs, Supradip Chakma today urged voters from all walks of life to cast ‘Yes’ vote in the ensuing referendum to be held alongside the 13th Jatiya Sangsad election. 

He said that ‘Yes’ vote in the referendum would be the driving force for building a new Bangladesh.

The Adviser made the call this afternoon at a civic gathering here in Rangamati, organised by the district administration, as part of a nationwide campaign in favour of ‘Yes’ vote in the referendum alongside the 13th Jatiya Sangsad election.

The event on referendum campaigning and voters’ motivation was held at the conference room of the Rangamati Deputy Commissioner.

Presided over by Rangamati Deputy Commissioner Nazma Ashrafi, the meeting was attended by Additional Secretary of the Ministry of CHT Affairs Md Monirul Islam, Rangamati Hill Zila Parishad Chairman Agriculturist Kajal Talukder, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration Toufik Imam, Superintendent of Police,  Mohammad Abdur Rakib, Civil Surgeon Dr Nuyen Khisa, President of Rangamati Press Club Anwar Al Haq, spoke among others.

Adviser Supradip Chakma said the government and advisers are campaigning across the country in support of the referendum and election. If the ‘Yes’ vote wins in the referendum, the path to building a new Bangladesh will become much smoother. “This is our collective responsibility in building the state,” he added.

He said the government wants positive change and, therefore, everyone must be motivated to vote ‘Yes’ in the referendum.

After the meeting, CHT Affairs Adviser Supradip Chakma inaugurated the referendum campaign and voter motivation activities through a vote-car caravan ‘Voter Gari’ from the district administration premises, under the slogan “Referendum 2026, Parliamentary Election—The key to the country is in your hands.”
