CHATTOGRAM, Jan 24, 2026 (BSS) - BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman arrived in Chattogram this evening after nearly two decades.

The BNP chief reached Shah Amanat International Airport at around 7:15 pm, where he was received by BNP Standing Committee members Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Salahuddin Ahmed and Giasuddin Quader Chowdhury.

Chattogram City Corporation Mayor Dr Shahadat Hossen, former Chattogram city BNP general secretary Abul Hasan Bakkar, Chattogram city BNP member secretary Nazimur Rahman, and other senior party leaders were also present to welcome him at the airport.

After arriving, Tarique Rahman proceeded in a motorcade to Radisson Blu Hotel in the Kazir Dewri area. BNP leaders and activists from various wards and thanas lined both sides of the road to greet him, to which he responded by waving as his convoy passed.

A large number of BNP activists also gathered in front of the Radisson Blu Hotel to catch a glimpse of the party chief.

Party leaders believe that Tarique Rahman's visit will inject fresh momentum into BNP's political activities in Chattogram and have a significant impact on the local political landscape.

The BNP chairman is also expected to hold separate meetings with youth leaders and attend a public rally on Sunday.
